THE RIDING SCHOOL
Situated in the country, 35 km from Dax, between Castets and Lit-et-Mixe, the equestrian farm of "Bénesse Vieux" is open all year long.
Whether you are a beginner or confirmed rider, a whole range of accompanied walks are offered to you in the forest of the Landes.

The farm Bénesse Vieux offers you a ride that fit your level :
- One-hour circuits for beginners :
In the forest, on calm horses, you can learn about the pleasures of horse-riding.
After some theoretical advice, you will leave together with a qualified person and will return with a smile !
"I never rode"
No problem, on an adapted mount, there is no age to begin !
"I would want to ride with friends, but they are already riders"
The golden rule is that we always adapt to the lowest level, so, no worries.
"What equipment do I need ?"
Safety equipment : helmets and mini-chaps (for calves) are supplied on the spot.
It is recommended to wear supple pants (avoid jeans) as well as well-fitted shoes.
"How does it work ?"
You come a quarter of an hour before departure. After you have familiarized yourself with the equipment, we allocate you a horse.
Once in saddle, we adjust your stirrups and we explain you how to use the commands voice, legs, weight of the body and the reins.
During the walk, it belongs to you to lead your horse, the guide will be there to watch your safety.
When you get back at the farm, a person will help you come down and will take care of your mount, with your help if you wish to.
- 2 to 3 hour circuits for confirmed riders :
Still accompanied with a guide, you will fully enjoy the Landes landscape.
After preparing your mount with the help of a staff member, the ride can begin.
You will cross various landscape : moor, forest, stream, typical village.
"Do I have the level ?"
If you ride only in riding school it is important to take into account that horse is more "expressive" outdoors.
If you have already had several strolls, you feel confortable at the 3 paces (walking, trot, gallop), then no worries !
"How does it works ?"
You come half an hour before departure, After trying the equipment (if you do not have your own), prepare your horse, who will be delighted to get to know you, and let's go for the adventure !
A break is planned in the middle of the ride.

We offer you one-day rides on request, exept during the summer seasen.
Who is it for ?
In order to fully enjoy the ride, it is advisable to feel comfortable at the 3 paces and to be used to riding outdoor.
Rides last at least 4 hours, so it is necessary to be in good shape.
How does it works ?
After preparing the horses, let's go for the adventure !
We usually have lunch in the forest with a picnic, wich allows us to keep an eye at our horses.
We leave after a short nap and come back to the farm.
Planned half-way through the ride, morning and afternoon.
Children under 10 are not left out : ponies are waiting for them.

We can now complete our knowledge with the workshops - games for youngs but also for big!
These workshops are at the disposal of every visitor.
The money collected in the money box will be poured at the account of the association " L' Automne des Crinières Blanches ", which insures the care of our old
retired horses.
